Now in its 10th year, Light The Night is celebrating a Decade of
Difference. During this time:
-
Nearly half a million patients and their caretakers have called
the LLS Information Resource Center and received critical
information about blood cancers, therapy options and issues
surrounding treatment and survival.
-
Nearly $40 million was disbursed to patients through the LLS
Patient Assistance program to help them get the treatment they
needed to fight their cancer.
-
Over 100,000 patients and family members found comfort and hope
through LLS First Connection and Family Support Groups.
-
LLS granted $425 million to more than 400 scientists searching
for cures and improved treatments for patients.
-
LLS funding contributed to the development of a host of new
drugs that are affecting patient survival and quality of life.
-
LLS-funded researchers began working in novel areas that hold
great promise for finding cures and better treatments including
new, less toxic stem cell transplants, immunotherapies and other
targeted therapies.
-
Our Advocacy Network has successfully supported pro-patient
legislation that will:
-
Help advance blood cancer research
-
Extend Medicare coverage to include oral anti-cancer drugs
-
Help fund efforts to reach underserved blood cancer patients

In 1995, community leaders in
Garden City began to look for solutions to their high juvenile crime
rate. The mayor and the chief of police teamed up in an effort to
find a positive youth program. Soon, they contacted Boys & Girls
Clubs of America to learn about creating a Club. Support for the
future Club began to grow in the community. So, after months of hard
work and planning, a Boys & Girls Club was formed in the heart of a
Garden City residential area, next to the beautiful Boise River . It
didn't take long for hundreds of youth to make the Club a place of
their own.
Today, the Club is known as a premier after-school program that
has had great success in positively impacting youth. The success of
the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County greatly depends on the
generosity of their supporters. They rely on corporate
and individual gifts, special events, and grants to operate.
The Garden City Chamber of
Commerce is the voice for the business community in our area,
representing the views of its members to government and the
community, and working to help solve the many challenging issues
that face business owners and impact the quality of life in our
community. For further information, contact

We also have bigger and better prizes for all kinds of things. So,
get your game on and come and claim yours!
All of us at the Trot are a little whacky, wild and crazy and we
want you to join in the fun. Dress up in a costume, wear bells on
your shoes or come with a group theme to shake things up a bit.
There will be prizes for such silliness!
We are excited about growing this community tradition and it will
only get better as we have more and more people join in the
celebration each year. The more the merrier, as they say. If you
are interested in coming to watch the race, but don’t necessarily
want to run we are always on the lookout for enthusiastic
volunteers. Volunteer information can also be found on our website.
