SUMMARY:Race for Justice - Looking for an Idaho Participant
DESCRIPTION:They are looking for a participant from every state. It can be run virtually on June 18. \nMore information and registration: https://runsignup.com/Race/KY/Louisville/RaceForJustice502 \nThis event was designed by a women-led student group. Inspired by Breonna Taylor\, the movement that followed her tragic loss\, and the many other injustices we’ve seen and experienced\, this race is about uniting our city to move forward.  Proceeds from the event will be donated to six local nonprofits doing justice work in the city: Americana\, the Bail Project\, La Casita\, Mattingly Edge\, Queer KY\, and Roots 101. \n5-person teams complete a relay of 26 total laps — each lap dedicated to one year of Breonna’s life. Individuals can register for a 1.3 mile run/walk — Breonna’s life was taken on March 13th. Virtual registration is also available. We highly encourage anyone in the community who supports our mission but cannot attend to sign up “virtually”. When you sign up virtually you support our mission and contribute to the great organizations above. Virtual participants may “join” us in their own way on 18th – run/walk/roll for 26 minutes\, 26 miles\, 5 blocks\, 1.3 miles or anything you can think of!! \nDuring the race\, you will also hear speakers and see videos depicting our journey highlighting the work of our non-profit partners. The day will also include a celebration of justice with speakers\, music\, and entertainment. There will be booths from local justice organization to provide even more opportunity for you to engage in justice work. Our will also get to enjoy the beautiful facilitate at the Norton Sports and Learning Complex which include rock climbing and bowling. Food trucks and vendors will be on-site. It will be a great to celebrate\, move\, and act together. \nWe want our city to run\, march\, walk\, dance as we move Forward. Together. For Justice.

YMCA Early Childhood Development programs are committed to providing an environment where children feel safe and are encouraged to explore and learn. Our programs provide opportunities\, experiences\, and relationships to stimulate a young child’s physical\, social\, cognitive\, and emotional development. \nRace History:\nThe Saint Alphonsus Capitol Classic Race was started by Ron and Betsy Twilegar in 1983 to encourage young people to become interested in physical fitness\, especially running. At that first race\, held on September 2\, 1983\, 1\,000 children ran from the State Capitol Building to the Union Pacific Depot. Through the efforts of Dr. Michael and Kirsten Coughlin\, Saint Alphonsus became involved with supporting the race in 1987. The race date was changed to the end of the school year and has continued as a tradition for many Treasure Valley families. \n

Pioneer Street\, Boise Idaho.\n\nRegistrants after April 21st can pick up their shirts 9am the morning of the event on May 7th at Harrison Dental located at 1675 W. Hill Road\, Boise. \n\n\n\n\n\nPLACE: Historic Harrison Boulevard\, Boise\, ID US 83702\n\n\n\n\nRACE MAP\n\nOur stroll takes place on Boise’s Historic Harrison Boulevard.  There is no starting line or start time.  Where ever you enter Harrison is your starting point to walk a loop on the mile long Boulevard.  Enjoy the flocking decor\, the homeowner’s cheering stations and the sponsor booths.  Parking is open in the North End.  Before or after the event\, join us on Hazel Street between 16th and Harrison for our first annual Albertson’s Flock Party to visit the food truck\, enjoy music from The River and K-HITS\, take pictures at the photo back drop\, and Survivors can visit the Survivor tent for their swag. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRACE WEBSITE: Additional race information can be found at http://www.flockcanceridaho.com.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRACE CONTACT INFO: If you have any questions about this race\, please contact the race director at flockcancerevents@gmail.com\n\n\n\n\n\nCHARITY PARTNERS: Flock Cancer Idaho is an organization dedicated to organizing events to honor the legacy of and to celebrate breast cancer survivors\, caregivers and their families and to use the events to raise money for vital Treasure Valley recovery and care programs which can improve those journeys.  We are a fully volunteer based organization with NO paid staff.  The money raised and pledged to Flock Cancer first goes to support the costs for the Street Stroll event\, and then goes directly to our charity partners.  We are excited to partner this year with the YMCA Oncology Program and Bustin Out Of Boise.\n\nThe YMCA Oncology Recovery Program is designed to meet the needs of cancer survivors before\, during and/or after treatment in a safe and supportive environment. Research shows that when geared specifically to the patient\, exercise is safe for all physical levels of ability. Additionally\, it is suggested that interaction with individuals who have similar circumstances may lead to benefits beyond exercise alone.  Participants partake in physical and social activities focused on strengthening the whole person and improving quality of life. By shifting the emphasis away from the disease\, participants move beyond cancer in spirit\, mind\, and body. \nBustin Out Of Boise is a 15 year old non-profit founded in Boise as a ‘gap filler’ organization to walk beside cancer fighters\, survivors and their families to help them during their journey with aid and services they might need to support them and their families. \nWe are so proud to be able to directly support programs and organizations in our valley that will directly help people locally! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRace InfoRegisterRefund Policy\nEvent InfoSponsors\nDonateFind a Participant
