We are a local group of high school XC coaches and athletes that put on this race as a fundraiser for our team AND as a way for our community to come together on the 4th. We start early to avoid the heat\, and we always have chocolate milk at the finish line! There are lots of events going on in the park the day of the race so after you finish you can go see classic cars\, eat a pancake and sausage breakfast\, or go for a swim at the pool! We keep the cost low because we do it all ourselves. No fancy timing system needed\, we are pretty fast with our stopwatch! The loop around town shows off some of Vale’s best while being pretty shady from the trees. Best of all we cheer for every finisher no matter what your time! Come visit us and support our XC team! By doing so you are giving back to us. We use the money from this race to buy everything from sweatshirts/jackets/backpacks/even shoes! Plus the money helps to buy our athletes food on the road to and from our many races. Lastly we use the race proceeds (your entry fee) to also buy apparel that goes towards spreading awareness for a charity. Last year we bought socks to support our troops (some of whom are our past team members). So Thank you for choosing to support Vale XC and our athletes! \nAbout our course: It’s flat and pretty fast. Mostly on the open roads of Vale (rarely any car interference)\, with a .15 mile gravel section at the end of the 5k. The 1mile is an in-town loop with a few turns. Everything is well marked with chalk and signs along with volunteers on important corners (we really don’t want you to go the wrong way!). The 10K is a double loop of the 5k with water available at halfway! If it’s hot already then we’ll have sprinklers ready! Timing done onsite.\nAward trophies to top male and female finishers of the 5K and 10K. Gift certificates for the top 3 1mile finishers.\nCotton T-shirts are available for purchase by 1mile participants (included with 5k and 10K runners entry fee).

The drop-off lane at Eastover Terraces closes at 9:30am. There is no registration or packet pick up on race day.  You can get back down to the Capitol and Cecil D Andrus Park by going Crescent Rim/Latah/Americana or Crescent Rim/Peasley/Rose Hill/Visit/Capitol Blvd. (please note – this route will be CLOSED after 9:40am\, as the police will close northbound traffic at University Drive). \nRace Drop at the Boise Depot: Drop off is just that\, drop off. Parents need to stay in their vehicles and allow the Race Volunteers to escort their racers from the car to the proper starting area. Please do not get out of your vehicle. Tip: Take your pre-race pictures at home. \nRace Bib: Bib numbers need to be pinned to front of the body on the out most layer of clothing. The course will start at the Willowcreek School\, with plenty of parking\, bathrooms\, and room to warm-up. There’s also a playground for kids before/during/or after the race (we are not responsible for watching your kids though while you race). The 10k &20K courses will have water/Gatorade/and Honey Stinger Gels for racers at 3\, 5\, 6\, 9\, 11 mile marks. The course features views of Cottonwood mountain\, fields of crops\, beef cows & horses\, and potentially numerous wildlife! This time of year should still be fairly cool\, though PLEASE plan for Mosquitos! (We will have a variety of repellents available\, but bring your own if you are sensitive.) Though the course is open to track\, there are few residents along the route and traffic will be minimal. The Willowcreek Store & Cafe will be open across the street for after race specials! And if any racers are interested Dairylain Farms will be giving tours of their robotic dairy facility at 11am (after racers have finished). All proceeds from this race go to the Steens Running Camp Fund for the Vale Cross Country Team. \n
