SUMMARY:15th Annual SueB 5k Walk/Run
DESCRIPTION:Place\nJulia Davis Park – 700 S Capitol Blvd: Opposite the Rose Garden\nBoise\, ID US 83702\n\n\n\nDescription\n\n\nWho was SueB? \nA vivacious\, intelligent woman who is missed dearly every day. February 9\, 1955 – April 4\, 2008 \nSusan Elaine Brubaker Newby died in 2008 during a mysterious horseback riding incident. After her death\, family\, and friends realized that SueB – her nickname – was likely in an abusive marriage. SueB’s sister\, Marj\, and friends\, Leslie and Teresa turned to the WCA as a way to honor SueB’s life and increase awareness about domestic violence. Their hope: “to help other successful\, smart\, beautiful women like SueB leave these relationships before it’s too late.” \nContinuing to honor the memory of Susan “Sue B” Newby\, The Sue B 5K race will be in its 15th year in 2024 kicking off on Sunday\, October 6th at 12 pm at Julia Davis Park. Participants running the event will start at exactly 12pm and individuals walking the 5k will start on a staggered time of 12:10pm. Each participant will receive a free t-shirt\, deadline to receive a free shirt is September 15th. \nIn addition to the race\, there will be a community resource fair starting at 10:30 that is open to the public. This is an opportunity to discover and learn about the fantastic resources that our community has to offer. Raising awareness and encouraging important discussions about domestic abuse has always been a passion of Sue’s family and friends. A scavenger hunt centered around the WCA’s services and resources will also be available for children 12 and under. Participants will meet at the rose garden at 11am and will each receive a gold medal after completing the scavenger hunt. \n100% of race fees support our Endowment Fund to ensure the WCA can maintain our services and serve our clients for many years to come.  The object of this Endowment is to provide funds in perpetuity for the operation of all of the WCA’s programs to provide safety\, healing\, and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault. \nIn the heartfelt words of Sue’s sister Marj Sente: “Don’t wait until your sister\, daughter or mother is a victim of domestic abuse or sexual assault\, step forward now and make an investment in the WCA to raise awareness about domestic violence.”   \nThis is a great opportunity to celebrate positive relationships with your family\, friends\, and coworkers. Will you join us? \nRace Packet Pickup: \nOctober 4th 8am – 3pm at The WCA (720 W Washington St Boise\, ID 83706) \nOctober 5th 10am – 12pm at The WCA (720 W Washington St Boise\, ID 83706)

SUMMARY:The Montana Meltdown
DESCRIPTION:The Montana Meltdown is Oct 12-13 in Gallatin County Regional Park in Bozeman. The race is a fixed time event with options for 4\, 12\, and 24 hour “distances.” The course is a 1.5 mile loop that is 82% crushed gravel and 18% asphalt–dreamy smooth\, flat and fast. \nThere is an aid station every lap as well\, so runners don’t need to carry anything with them unless they wish! Fixed time races have no DNFs\, anyone who finishes one loop is a finisher! So they are a great way for runners to test themselves at longer distances\, practice running overnight\, and get plenty of time on feet. \nWe’d really appreciate you spreading the word to runners in your store. The race is live on ultrasignup and can be found HERE. \nhttps://www.freeoutside.com/montana-meltdown
